Humber Forts
The Humber estuary provided a safe haven from the German Navy for the fleet. Two forts were built as part of the military defences at the mouth of the river. This view from the Lincolnshire coast shows the Haile Sand Fort in the foreground and the Bull Sand Fort behind.
Haile Sand Fort
The Haile Sand Fort entered service in 1917, protecting the safe haven of the Humber from the German navy. It remained in service until the mid 1950's.
